Broke AF? Here's the solution

Ever needed to buy some things but couldn’t afford it?

Your probably just thinking, just save up and buy it later, that would be the smart thing to do but it doesn’t happen that way most of the time to be honest, saving money is on my top three things I should be doing along with stop shopping! I am sure I am not the only one (comment below).

Having two young adults currently attending college is a blessing but it also was an eye-opener, that made me realize how much credit means in this country, I have no credit because I have bad credit. I know I know shame on me, the good thing is that I am working on it, I’ll get to that on another post if not this post will be very long. Having credit cards, it’s a “good” thing but also a “bad” thing in this country, IT’S A TRAP! we are three numbers, that’s what we are whether we like it or not, it sounds a little harsh but it’s true, those three numbers are your Social Security, Credit Score and the balance on your checking or savings account.

Back in March of this year my oldest daughter was chosen to go on an international trip from school to Senegal, which the school was paying for most expenses but i had to come up with something, the trip was very sudden and God knows I was not ready financially for it, But I had no heart to tell my baby that we couldn't afford it we spoke to dad and we made it happen, then there was...

My daughter: “Mom I need clothes for my trip”

Me: What's wrong with the clothes you have?

My daughter: We are in the middle of winter, its super-hot over there, we are going to the African continent!

Me: OK! (but not really)

That's when I found Afterpay.com randomly just browsing on Forever21.com.I decided to give it a try but first, I did my research read reviews, watched reviews on YouTube and other stuff, I was a little skeptical at first because I had never heard of it before? payment plans? for countless I mean countless of different stores? NO CREDIT NEEDED!!!

Afterpay is like a huge mall online where you can find stores like freepeople.com ,stevemadden.com, boohoo.com ,Nastygal.com and many more, thank you lord Jesus! This actually saved me from getting in more “money troubles’. We did some shopping and she was all set and ready for her trip.

After this I should have learned my lesson right but, noooo, of course not, long story short kids graduated HS and were now going away to college and with that a lot of emotions and a lot of spending money. I will like to add that yes, I work a full-time job and get paid but I underestimated how much money I needed to get them everything they need. Between tuition, room, and board forget it I was “broke” and I still needed to get them all the stuff for their room and school supplies, they were literally moving out on my expense (lol) not by choice they decided to go 3 hours away from home to college. Money was tight guys, I had little money, I had to eat, I had to pay my bills, and live my day to day as usual but I was desperate.

I decided to reach out to my best friend on the Internet, Google. I googled personal loans, pay monthly, Credit card for bad credit and I came across something called Klarna It caught my eye, at first I thought another rinkidinki credit card with maybe 1 million interest fees, but I was wrong this company worked just as Afterpay, only difference this company just works with a lot more retailers that Afterpay doesn’t have like Target.com Walmart.com Zara.com Amazon.com and a lot more, same concept whatever the amount you pay in four payments every two weeks. Just what I needed.

Example: How does it work?

AFTERPAY/ KLARNA: It's an online website that has a bunch of retailers allowing you to buy something now and pay it off in four installments due every 2 weeks. All I had to do was make a profile add my payment method (debit card) and shop make sure that the item exceed an amount starting on $40-$1000 and then pay up in four payments every two weeks for example if you buy $80 worth of products no matter what store that they work with you pay $20 the day of the purchase which leaves you with a balance of $60 and your next payment will be two weeks after, every two weeks no interest fees.

How did I not know about this? I thought I was a Pro shopping online? How didn’t I see it on an ad on Facebook, or the subway? I give it a try, my first purchase was with Afterpay, my daughters needed clothes, so I made an order and made four payments. I was done making the next order and so on, then after that it wasn’t so bad for me I felt a little better. I was so stressed out just thinking about not being able to provide for my children when they needed it the most, but the universe always finds a way.

I decided to share this because I’m sure I’m not the only one that has been in this situation, you can use this app to shop for FOOD! Because you know you can food shop at Walmart and Target, right? Or you just want to shop for yourself, or buy that lux item that you can’t afford and pay in one shot, or you just don’t have credit gosh darn it!!! or! You just don’t want to get in debt and use your credit card and FIX YOUR CREDIT FOR THE FUTURE ELIBY!!! Which I already started but I will write that in another post once I see results and learn a little bit more about the topic.

Well I hope this post can help anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation, I also want to add that I IN NO SHAPE OR FORM ENCOURAGING TO SHOP TO YOU DROP OR TO GET IN “DEBT” MONEY IS SOME SERIOUS SHIT AND THEY SHOULD BE TEACHING THIS IN SCHOOL. Thanks for reading this far (lol).

With love,

Eliby

Ps: If you guys know of any tips on how to improve your credit score please help a sister out.
